As a Clinical Psychologist, I work with clients in individual or couples therapy on a variety of issues and problems. I also provide assessment & treatment of PTSD (trauma). Some of the main concerns that I can help you with may include the following:
Grief around loss and life changes
Relationship issues that may include a partner or family members
Anxiety & Depression
Coping and resolving anxiety and depression
Coping with and resolving past histories of sexual abuse
Coping and resolving Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Managing stress with specific tools and support for a healthy lifestyle
During your first counselling session I listen to you as you talk about what is primarily bothering you. Specific techniques include mindfulness cognitive behavioural skills and some body awareness and breath techniques.
It is only when you feel comfortable enough and when I understand your unique situation that then, together we may examine your strengths, beliefs, values, and build on communication skills, imagination, and creativity to increase resilience and good decision-making.
I offer individual psycho-therapeutic sessions at my practice in Sechelt @ $190.00/hour and couple sessions @ $200.00/hour. No medical referral is necessary. Therapeutic sessions are one hour. Payment is required at the end of each session by cheque or cash. A 24 hour cancellation policy applies.
Some extended individual and family medical plans in BC cover services with Registered Psychologists. You can also claim part of the counseling fees as medical expenses. Consult with your accountant. A receipt is provided at the end of each session with the necessary information for clients to forward on to their health plans where applicable. Please note that Extended Plans vary in their coverage of psychological services – Before you start psychotherapy, you should check with your insurance plan to see if mental health services are covered.
